btw, julio cesar chavez got to 88-0 before the first blemish on his record.

so for those who are talking about valuev "getting closer and closer to 49-0" remember this: a welterweight and a dane already did it. who gives a **** if valuev makes it to 49-0 and "breaks marciano's record"? its been done already.
If you saw just a bit of his fights you'd be even less impressed. He looked like he was on a stable McDonald's diet.

I think his looks were somewhat deceptive though. He wasn't all that bad. Just not all that good either. actually quite fast when needed for a man his size.
At his best around 1998 it would probably have been fair to rate him inside top 10, but outside top 5.

He was a real character though and was extremely popular in Denmark. His entrance tune was "Always look on the bright side of life" (from Monty Python's "Life of Brian") - which kind of showed he didn't take himself too seriously. - good thing too.

Marciano was a great fighter, I don't know if anybody is saying he wasn't, but 49-0 is overrated

49-0 is impressive IF.. at least 25 of those fights were fought against B+ competition and a minimum of 15 of those being fought at WORLD CLASS.. Has ANYONE done THAT?

I have seen Neilsen brutally KO some ****ers and your wrong in saying that dude wasn't a bad ass. I welcome any of you Saturday night keyboard jockeys to go out there and go 49-0 and prove that it's not that big of a deal.
