The phillipino population to land mass ratio is worse than Mexico's because mexico has a huge land mass. Hence Mexican's have more room to throw punches unlike in the Philipines where the lower ratio dictates more clinching and doesn't allow the top talent to fully evolve.

never denied Mexico had more champs. Mexico has had an advantage in being so close to the U.S. that they get more exposure. More people take up boxing in Mexico because of it. Im sure if the P.I. was close to the U.S. it would be a different story.

OMG!! You are ignorant in the history of Boxing. What Alibata said was true...in the 1900's there were the British, American (black and white), Irish and Filipinos in boxing! Mexican boxing only started "flourishing" in the 40's and 50's....and they've been great ever since and now dominates the boxing world.

Pinoy's are a hot commodity and they saw how Pinoy's filled up the stadium and ordered PPVs. That is why you are seeing more now. Pinoys are getting more exposed. Unlike before were they were favoring Mexicans in the rankings. Pacquiao would probably not be as famous right now or even be a Lb for lbder, even though he had the skills, had he not been choosen as a replacement fighter for Ledwaba.
