i personally, really want to see both, so i have to agree that this would be the best indicator available today if you were to look for some figures on which is more popular today... as far as fans who are equally knowledgable about both boxing and mixed martial arts..

Good thread, except that I wouldn't use the Pac-Morales fight as an indicator of the popularity of boxing. Both fighters have huge following of their own, and the fight is important in the boxing world, but this is not one that I see as having mainstream appeal (at least in America which is all I can speak of). If the Mayweather-Baldomir fight does really well and Pac-Morales does not sell as much as the UFC card, then that would not suggest that boxing is losing ground to UFC.

(I admit to knowing next to nothing about UFC so I don't know how important a fight that is.)

pac/morales sells a lot of PPV's no way that the UFC will beat them on PPV buys

i think that the pac fight will draw more folks. with the mexican verses the philippino the two together have a fan base bigger than MMA altogether. country verses country means a lot more viewers. and these two have a massive fanbase in the USA too.

nothing against MMA but heads up against Pac-Morales 3, Pac-Morales 3 wins easily in the numbers game.

Actually I think its a fair matchup since both fights are highly anticipated in there repective sports.

Again I'm not saying one is better than the other or that one is going to out sell the other.

All I'm saying is that what "IF" UFC 65 beats or equals Pac-Morales III on the same night then it can be our best indicator for how big if at all what the MMA-Boxing mainstream gap is?

Also I'm not sure perhaps BigPoppa has better resources than I do but UFC 60 had 600,000 buys?

Is it just me or do you think they stop the fights to early in MMA matches, like in the UFC?
