the average person (person, not fan) knows mike tyson, joe louis, muhammad ali, george foreman, rocky, and maybe holyfield and sugar ray leonard.

outside of that, the average person probly doesnt know or care about boxing. and understandably so, this sport is reprehensible.

I would take Rocky off that list, unless you talk to Italians

I like boxing, but I didn't get into it until pretty recently, so I really don't know the history of the sport or older fighters, although I wish I did. I have a hard enough time keeping track of all the fighters now. I learned the technical aspect of the sport because a little after I got into boxing I joined kickboxing, which basiclly takes the upper body of boxing (i know its not the same thing but it helps me understand boxing more). I am a Gatti fan but I know hes not great...even I know I wouldn't wanna see him go against JCC.

unfortunatly, im talking about rocky balboa, the fake fighter. tragically, most people see him as the poster boy for boxing, totally disregarding the fact that rocky balboa has never existed and sylvester stallone is not a fighter.

What?! I saw the trailer for Rocky Balboa yesterday, and it proved, beyond doubt, that he is the greatest fighter of all time.

I actually don't know a lot about boxing history. It's only something I've watched casually over the last six years or so.

The average fan only knows DLH is GOD in Boxing, and Trinidad is his son. Everyone else are just fighters in their world... (keep in mind Trinidad is retired and DLH is semi-retired) lol.

                    LOL, so true

That's why the Great city of Philadelphia has a state of him and not Joe Frazier
