Super Middleweight Division Begins To Prosper

The fight game is all about money and recognition. Here is the reality. For Joe Calzaghe, the one fight that will stamp him with greatness is against Mikkel Kessler, not Bernard Hopkins. Kessler is the best contender for Calzaghe’s stranglehold over the Super Middleweight division. So what is standing in the way of this fight becoming a reality? [details]

Hey, that was a great little piece on Calzaghe-Kessler. I agree completely. Luring a 41 year old man out of retirement, when there is a 27 year old WBA-WBC champion to fight makes NO sense (unless Calzaghe doesn't want to take that risk).

That article was ok but too diorganized bro. You have to focus your articles better and avoid going off in tangents i.e. Contender.

However the author does seem a bit harsh on JT for no apparent reason:
I like Jermain Taylor and view him as the true Middleweight champion, but his record pales in comparison to either Calzaghe
JT's record pales in comparison to Calz I would say its better considering he beat two p4p ranked fighters (While they were p4p not when they were over the hill). Not to mention JT is 6 years younger than Calz. If you compare them at similar points in there career (when Calz was 28years old) you would see that JT is leaps and bounds above Calz in terms of opponent quality.

This is punctuated by Calz himself. He himself has stated that Hop would be a dream fight for him. Hop is already on JT resume twice.

Also there seems to be a bit of huberis in regards to how mainstream the Kessler fight would be:
The pay-per-view would be just as big on a worldwide scale as possibly a Hopkins-Calzaghe or even a Jermain Taylor-Calzaghe bout. Calzaghe would make just as much money, if not more, if he fought Kessler.
As a fan of boxing I would much prefer to see Calz-Kessler however Calz vs Hop or Taylor would with almost 100% certainty make more money because the huge PPV numbers come from the same Western pedestrian fans who buy every single DLH fight.

Hardcore boxing fans will recognize Kessler-Calz as a great matchup but I doubt a large portion of pedestrian fans would shell out PPV dollars.

but there is no doubt that a Kessler-Calzaghe fight would sell out anywhere in Europe

It might sell-out in Denmark or Wales, but certainly nowhere else! Lol!
