That's right. Calzaghe has been struggling with this for a long time. I only agree with it because he has a record setting title degense record. I can't see him walking away from that. It's unprecedented in this day and age. Scary to think of Calzaghe weak against Kessler, who just blew a solid champion like Beyer right out of the water.

He's had it since his earliest days in boxing (since he was a kid) because he could always whack abnormally hard, putting bigger and older boys to sleep with left swings.

Joe Calzaghe's career has been mismanaged from day one. He needed to get more exposure overseas, but it didn't happen. He was never going to get the big fights if he stayed in Britain. Last night's poor performance might be a result of dehydration, but super-middleweight is his division, like or not. If he moves up in wieght, he has to start over again because there are no superstars at lightheavy with super egos. The problems Calzaghe has today are a direct result of mismagement of the past. The biggest fight he can hope for is Kessler, but Kessler isn't all that well known, so the fight doesn't rate to be a big PPV draw. And the worst part is, if Calzaghe has to resort to radical dehydration to make weight, Kessler will beat the crap out of him!

Personally I think he should haven given up his belts and started calling out the top guys at lightheavy and cruiser. Facing Bika was not only a compatitive risk, but a marketing risk as well. If he didn't dominiate Bika the way he dominated Lacy, he devalues the price of his stock. That is what happened and now it is going to be tough to sell him in the American market.

I think Calzaghe has to fight Kessler. If he beats Kessler and unifies the division, he solidifies his name in the sport. Then he'll be able to draw other people to move up and fight him or command bigger fights at LHW.

I think he's gonna have to tough it out and try to make SMW at least one more time to fight Kessler.

He can make 168, but it just leaves him ****ing skinny and weak.. more and more so each time.
