First off as you all are aware I am a fan of Duddy's, I was one of the fist ppl on this board to 'discover' him. I have been to 2 of his fights live his 10th and 16th. I even had the opportunity to interview him back in March before his Pudwill fight. So I have been following him since roughly his 8th pro fight. So I am bit bit biased in my opinion but I will be as objective as possible -
People on the boards seem to be jumping the gun a bit after his fight with Campas. So let me remind everybody that is is still his only 18th pro fight. And he is been brougth up quite nicely so far. He has beaten some game veterans like Pat Coleman, Byron Mackie, Freddy Cuevas and Yori Boy Campas. As well as a tough gatekeeper at the middlweight division Pat Thompson and a solid prospect Lenard Pierre ( in his 8th pro fight). A decent majority of these fighters do not begin to fight this competition until they have 20 something bouts in their career (Top rated contender Kelly Pavlik is fighting Pierre in his 29th pro bout Nov 2 and hyped prospect Giovanni Lorenzo fought Mackie in his 21st pro bout compared to Duddy who fought Mackie in his 13th pro bout).
So this brings us to the "controversy" of the Campas fight. And here is what I believe after seeing the fight. First off Campas was vastliy underrated by the ppl on this board, he was coming off some solid wins. And he came out in the early rds and tried to put Duddy away. but it didnt happen. It reminded me of the Cuevas fight a bit, Cuevas came at Duddy and tried to somether him and won the first couple of rds. After that Duddy ajusted and began to **** Cuevas' face in.
This is true with the campas fight, Campas took the 1st 3 rds and soon after Duddy ajusted and began to win rds. AND whatt ppl forgot to mention here is that the ref even took away a knockdown in the 10th rd I believe. and the last rd I scored even.
So this is getting too long but my point is he is still developing, in his 11th or 12th fight he had no jab and by the Cuevas fight he developed a mule kick of a jab. Now he needs to work on defense, I hope to see a fight with Jim Rock, Willie Gibbs, and Giovanni Lorenzo down the line for Duddy
