Maskeav hands down. Calzaghe is getting so much credit(and rightfully so) for clowning Jeff Lacy, that I think some are overlooking the fact that a move from middle to LHW and beating the champ then on to HW to beat one of the champs , is more significant.

10 years from now he will be remembered for being one of only three men to win the HW and MW titles. Beating Calzaghe won't do as much.

I have to disagree with you Godzhand, a win over Calzaghe is light years ahead of a win over Maskaev. Maskaev has lost 5 times and all being way of KO. While, Calzaghe is argubly in his prime, and is undefeated.

you people have to understand that the heavyweight championship is very weak a win over a average heavyweight with 5 losses or a win over a 41-0 undisputed supermiddlewight champion who could beat hopkins title Defence record after his next bout who is jst off destroying lacy and regarded in my book top 5 p4p in the world do i have 2 say more ?

Calzaghe said he would move up in weight to light heavyweight for the fight.

Damn i was say Calzaghe but it's not that easy--i mean think about it..becoming HW champ!!...and though i hate to say it..beating Calz wont do much for hopkins especially within the USA,Calz is not heard of as much, reconizged or even appreciated so i doubt he would get much praise from fans as he would from getting the HW title,i know to us boxing fans it would be a huge fight but not with anyone....though i hate to say it if hopkins wants to really get his name out there he has to fight the/a HW champ more then a man who just "beat Lacy" as he is seen here and nothing more. I say he goes for them both haha..either way i think hopkins has nothing to lose and has a great chance against both of them.

.....I couldn't agree more. The executioner and the Calzonie makes for a very intriguing fight. Bernard has more to lose if he gets beat by Calzaghe though. If he loses to Oleg in attempting to jump several weight classes and beat a true heavy then he won't catch as much grief.

this is a hard one because if Hopkins moved up weight and defeated a champion he would add a lot more to his legacy but IMO Calzaghe is more the famous and better know of the two and if he beat and undefeated champ it would add even more so im gona go with Calzaghe

So maskaev is more well known as calzaghe? lol come on. When was the last time maskeav ever been on tv on main event fights? lol. I bet none of the true boxing fans pay that crappy ppv of rahman vs maskaev 2. Calzaghe is absolutly well known. Calzaghe has been on showtime alot and his next fight is on free hbo so of course right there proves he's well known. A win over cal will be way better then beating a paper champion that is still a bum in maskaev. So if i was hopkins i easily pick calzaghe cause he's more well known, he's still fighting like he is in his prime, he's been the longest reining sm champion and cal is undefeated.
