Who would want to? You need somone to give you water, clean a cut etc.

If you're a boxer and don't have a trainer, but are trying to get a fight, the promoter will easily hook you up with a corner if you need a corner for your fight.

i think you're required to, for safety reasons, so that your corner can step in and stop the fight in case you're getting destroyed, aren't coherent, and couldn't stop the fight yourself.

If there's any sport in the world that requires cornermen, it's boxing and MMA. They require the most care, given the nature of the sport to hurt and inflict damage.

Im not sure!But I know i've seen a journeymen recently with only his wife in his corner.It was obvious she didn't know what she was doing.
