"2007 will be the year of the Cobra!" - Carl Froch

Quotes from British super middleweight Carl Froch, telling a local paper in Nottingham (UK)...

"Once I get Dodson out the way and get that Lonsdale belt on my mantlepiece, I want three fights in 2007: the winner of Mkrtchian and Gogiya, the winner of Kessler and Beyer, and the winner of Calzaghe and Bika."

"2007 won't be the year of Ricky Hatton or Joe Calzaghe, it's going to be the year of the Cobra! I'll emerge as Europe's number one boxer since the war, winning the European (title) in style then putting Kessler and Calzaghe to sleep. I already hit atleast as hard as any super middleweight in history and I'm getting stronger by the week. I can lure them in and counter their heads off or I can lead off from out of range with the fastest delivery and the silliest of angles."

"I always said that as soon as I win the WBC, WBA and IBF titles I'll hang up my gloves and I will. I'm bowing out as one of the best pound-for-pound in boxing."

"But first things first I have to bounce Dodson's head off the canvas, it's going to be chilling and I do genuinely feel sorry for the guy. There's no way out for him (Dodson), once I get him in the ring."

Such breath-taking arrogance seems to be a prerequisite for any self-respecting pugilist these days, so judging just what proportion of it, if any, is purely for publicity purposes is difficult, but Froch certainly seems sure of his own ability. "As I have said before, I am, without exception, Britain's most talented sportsperson, pound-for-pound, sport-for-sport", he insists, confidence almost visibly dripping from every pore. "There is not one person you can name with more natural ability than me. Anyone who has seen me fight can tell you that - and I have to do it in boxing, the hardest sport of them all," he continues. "In my game there is nowhere to hide. If you screw up, you end up picking yourself up off the floor." The Cobra also has some harsh words for Britain's other top sports stars. "David Beckham is under worked, overpaid and over-praised; he is not fit to carry my sports bag. The same can be said for Tim Henman. He should give up, it's never going to happen; he's swallowed more times that Bernard Manning at a pie-eating contest. I have more all round attributes than any of the guys."

Carl 'the Cobra' Froch, the self-confessed hottest property in world boxing talks about winning the British title and his plans for global domination…

      --

He's a funny guy, though. And you can't argue with an unbeaten record! And if he wins the Euro title, he's WBC mandatory..

I can't wait till that arrogant idiot gets knocked out cold.I give him a bit of credit for the Magee win. But Magee was already exposed before Froch got to him

I guess we'll have to wait and see who emerges as the dominant super-middle.. Calzaghe, Kessler and Froch are all speaking confidently on it.

As long as Frochys chin holds out... then I am inclined to believe him... but I still suggest he learn some damn defence

Froch should dispose of Dodson early.

Froch is a beast, His stamina is awesome, he has good power and a good chin, I think he could actually beat Calzaghe, but calzaghe wont take that fight (big risk little reward)
