That's what I thought. Floyd was a bad matchup for him, and that was for some reason forgivable. Against Baldomir he just looked inferior.
But this is not on topic so I apologize . . .

baldy has a much better shot against floyd than people are giving him.

I knew Baldomir would beat Gatti, and I think he would beat any version of Gatti who ever lived. Gatti made a career of beating up smaller framed men. The guy is exciting as hell but I knew the day he fought a larger, stronger guy with a sturdy chin he would get beaten and probably knocked out or at least stopped.

I think the best bet would be to have Baldomir analyze tapes of the first Castillo-Mayweather fight and observe the things Castillo did to cause Mayweather trouble. He needs to apply a lot of pressure obviously, and yes he will get countered. He needs to bring the fight to Mayweather and make him work like he's never worked before. He's bigger and stronger in the clinches so he'll have the advantage there. He should clinch and wrestle enough to sap Mayweather's strength, but to do it excessively could bring on a warning or point deduction from the ref.

Forward action, backing Mayweather up at all time while throwing heavy shots to the ribs and stomach. He isn't going to KO Mayweather with one shot but he can beat the **** out of his body and take some of the spring out of his legs to make him easier to hit later in the fight.

It's gonna be an uphill battle for Baldomir, and he needs to be in the best possible shape of his life. He also needs to be willing to fight through pain and fatigue and take two punches to land one, just to wear Mayweather out. He needs to fight Mayweather as if men with guns are waiting to drag him out of the arena and put a bullet through his brain should he lose.

If he upsets Mayweather, he will make boxing history and be well on his way to a HOF career. This is his chance at immortality. If he loses, he will fade into obscurity as just another pretty damn good fighter.

I think he can do it (decision Mayweather that is, and a very close one), but it will require a suprehuman effort in the gym and in the ring. He'll have to bleed for it and, most important of all, he'll have to want it more than Mayweather does.

When someone is a fast boxer, people are always saying, "Swarm him. You're going to get hit, but nullify him by swarming him." In my opinion, I don't think that's a solid gameplan. Antonio Tarver didn't need to swarm Jones the second time they fought, he just timed him and knocked his ***** ass out.
Why is it always, "Swarm Mayweather. You can't beat him unless you swarm him." Floyd has flaws...expose his flaws.

never mind about pursuing, and the old axiom of cutting the ring off, it's not happening with this guy. taunt him, mock him, and make him come to you, half steps to close the gap while he punches, and catch him underneath the chin in an exchange, and up the middle in an exchange, don't always aim for his chin, hit him in the forehead, elbows, collar bone, and shoulder joint with short hard shots in the exchanges and do not lead with LOOPING shots.

hit him anywhere you can and rough him up talking bad **** to him through the mouthpiece, make him make a mistake and turn up the handspeed for two shot strikes in exhanges that have bad intentions on them.

otherwise, floyd will make you miss any lead, outbox you and sharpshoot you into a bloody mess.
This is exactly what I would tell Baldomir...we would train this way in the gym too....

Scully doesn't train Baldomir. The former trainer of Carlos Monzon trains him.
