Exactly! I'm doing my best to teach her that there is sooooooo much more to boxing than KOs... She still claims Gatti vs. Ward 1 is the "best fight EVER", and would complain during a typical DeLaHoya-Hopkins fight. She knows alot for an 11 yr. old GIRL and often flips the kids at school out when she starts 'talking boxing'! (THATS my girl )

Sounds like you are raising your kid right. The next generation appears to be in good hands.

Thanks! I'm trying...she's very little like me, and will be targeted in high school because of it; so it's important for her to be able to defend herself (I think knowing how to stick and move is a great way to start!!). I've explained to her that girls like to 'slap' and that its a waste of energy. When she goes to hit someone, the chances are great that she will get hit back so she need's to get it right when she does it

My eldest started school about 10 months ago, and the first thing I told her was to punch on the nose if any of the other kids are too mean to her, one lad kept pushing her over in the playground, it took 3 weeks of convincing her not to be bothered if the teacher tells her off for it, she came good in the end too, but she said she didn't like being nasty!!! Too soft like her Mother, a right girly girl if you know what I mean, whereas my middle girl i'm sure is a boy in a skirt - so bloody rough!

Tell her the key to being able to take a punch is to stay relaxed. If you tighten up or are afraid of getting hurt from a punch.....guess what is gonna happen?

thanks guy's...I let her read ONLY the parts about her (the clean posts) and she said not to worry, shes not afraid to get hit and she'll aim for the nose.

Mooks, she said "I dont think so...I'll try and knock her on her butt"...she has my attitude, dont ya think??
