No offense to you and I'm not saying you do it, but I hear a lot of people say, "And I'm a Morales fan" or "And I'm a Rahman fan" and then they preceede to royally bash and hate on those fighters repeatedly. I just thought I would bring that up.

I forget where I heard it but somebody was saying if you say, "His honorable gentleman" then you can say whatever you want about that person. For example: His honorable gentleman Diego Corrales is a whining hypocrite who doesn't make weight and ducked Casamayor for 2 years.

I had Corrales by 1 point. 6 rounds a piece plus a knockdown puts Corrales ahead. But I'm a Corrales fan and my opinion doesn't count. Also Casamayor won several rounds clearly while all of Corrales' rounds (aside from the 12th) were close rounds.

A couple things I noticed in the fight.

                1) Diego didn't use his jab as much as he needed to. That cost him some points probably.

                2) Diego landed more clear power shots, watch the fight again. I did with on demand. Diego landed a few more power right hands than Casamayor did with straight power lefts. (Add the fact that Casamayor barely ever touched him with a right hand power shot)

                3) Casamayor has a good chin, Diego blasted him with some real good right hands.

                4) Diego has a better chin than I think people credit him for, Casamayor landed at least 2 lefts that put Diego down in their earlier fights.

                5) If Casamayor was gonna give him such a beating, why did he run practically the whole fight???

                ______________________________

                My score:

                114-113 Diego Corrales.

                Weighted on:

                1) Who landed the more telling punches
                2) Defense
                3) Ring Generalship
                4) Damage taken

                1) You could argue it was even, but if you look at the heaviest shots of the bout, Casamayor did not land as many. I will give Casamayor good points for having a solid chin, but it doesn't change the fact that he got hit with a power shot.

                2) Defense, both guys were probably even on this. Diego leaves himself open with a lot of offense, but he had good head movement, and good parries I thought. He made Casamayor miss a lot, and Casamayor was quick, he made Diego miss a lot too.

                3) Who took the fight to who? I watched it again and I think for only 2 rounds was Casamayor taking the fight to Corrales. I mean, if Casamayor was going to knock Diego out, why did he just keep running away? I think Corrales controlled the action.

                4) Damage taken. Corrales definitely had the edge. You have to score on this cause it relates to point 1), you can see blows land and assign credit to them, but a good way to see the effect of them is to look at damage.

Diego had one cut, welt, and what was it from? A head butt from Casamayor. Which, on another note, should have cost Casamayor a point for the round, but the ref was not even paying attention, and yes it was intentional because he was retaliating for having to take a knockdown from the round before.

Casamayor had blood running out of his nose by the fights end, a welt (swelling) on his left cheek, from legitimate Corrales right hands, and I think his nose was broken. Hard to tell, but one angle after the fight showed a clear krink in the nose to me, plus there was an open cut right at that point.

Diego didn't have a bloody nose, a welt from punches are anything on him. I just could not give Casamayor the nod. He didn't advance the action, he had no ring generalship, and he didn't land the more telling blows. Plus with a 10-8 round (whether it was a legitimate knock down or not) there is no way Casamayor could have won the fight on points in my view.

I believe the judges were influenced by the fact that Diego didn't make weight and had all ready decided he didn't deserve to win the fight. However you think about Diego not making weight, remember this guy is 6 foot, and has mad weight every time in his career. I think some he deserves some respect for that. Plus, he tought he could lose the weight by Friday, he didn't eat for the days leading up to the weigh-in and plenty of fighter try to (and can) lose 5 pounds or more the day before or night before the weigh in.

Diego's camp also alerted the other camp in the morning that there was the possibility of Diego not making weight, I view that as when they legititmately knew Diego might not be able to make the weight.

Anyway, I hope Corrales does not retire, I would like to see him in the mix at 140 or 147.

Close and compeitive fight, but I had Casamayor ahead.

Chico didn't have the same activity level (obviosuly something to do with fatigue over the week before the fight) that he had in the rematch.

Casamayor took advantage, and I think he won more rounds with sharp effective punching than Corrales did walking him down with very few meaningfull shots.

Joel deserved the W in this fight and it was nice to see him get it.

Corrales will always be someone I'll watch, but he needs to move up. I don't think he'll retire. I think he'll be at 140 or 147 in 07.

                    115-112 Casamayor.

I am a fan of Diego and this is one of the reasons that I hate judges. I was rooting for Corrales the enitre fight, I new Cassamayor was winning and got happy when the decision was read.

I should have been pissed that my guy lost, but in todays sport I have to be happy that they got the decision right. I hate that crap.
