Breaking News...SHOWTIME to be free this weekend

just in time for the corrales/casamayor fights. I read they are doing this because

Hbo keeps putting fights on the same days as theres...so there you go.

    got the info from fightreport

    "SHOWTIME
Diego Corrales (40-3, 33 KOs) vs Joel Casamayor (33-3-1, 21 KOs)
Vic Darchinyan (26-0, 21 KOs) vs Glenn Donaire (16-2-1, 9 KOs)

There is no question that the Showtime card is better but unfortunately for them they only have 1/4 of the viewership that HBO has. So how do they turn the tables on HBO? By offering their card for free to all cable subscribers! Yes that’s right, this weekend is a free Showtime preview weekend and I urge everyone to check out their fight card.

The first two Corrales/Cassamayor were absolute wars and knowing how Diego always brings it under any circumstances I expect their third bout to be no different.

Hopefully this move by Showtime will hurt HBO in the ratings thus preventing them from targeting conflicting dates in the future. "

That's not the reason. Showtime always has a free preview weekend in October.

Of, course you can watch this, but i think you may need to at least have your cable companys cable box. I know where im from, last time they had a free preview for Showtime i didn't have their cable box and i wasn't able to see the free preview. Showtimes channel here in the West Coast start at channel 222.

I doubt it will hurt their ratings much half the people who watch boxing nowadays are wanting to see a freak show the 7ft 300lber will overshadow the smaller better fighters

I'm not sure how you'd get it. I have the Showtime and Showtime 2 channels but it gives me the message that I need to call them up and pay.

I have IO Digital Cable from Cablevision. I subscribe to only HBO.

i actually thought this was old news, but yeah, for those that don't usually get it, just find what channel Showtime is supposed to be on for you, and it should be there thru Monday... (outside of boxing, people should check out that new show, Dexter, too)
