If you ever wanted to see a career that was horribly mismanaged Fernando Vargas has to be one of the best examples. He was rushed up the ranks much too quickly and never got the expereince to fully develop his style. He has switched from one poor quality trainer to another and each of them has contributed to his downfall.
o shut up..vargas gave trinidad a good fight and he lost to de la hoya..and lost to mosley partly because i feel he's weight drained..you people act as if he lost to bums or something..Comment

i think his health should be the focus. vargas has had a rough career. all of his fights are crowd pleasing fights, with the exception of two. but in those crowd pleasing fights vargas has recieved as well as gave a considerable amount of punishment.
from taking huge shots to the head and having all his ko losses happen late in the fight and being hurt throughout those fights, vargas has been through a lot.Comment

I agree with you that I don't beleive that he was shot after the Trinidad fight, and that he fought like the same Vargas against Oscar. That being said I am a huge Vargas fan, and I would like to see him retire and not ruin the legacy he made when he was younger. I don't want him to stay around to long and get hurt more than he has. I think his back problem gives him a lot of trouble and doesn't allow him to move at all anymore. Watch the two Mosley fight he doesn't move at all anymore. he just comes straight forward and gets hit. He did Ok in the first Mosley fight but in the second he was getting hit alot and not apllying affective preasure.I dont think Vargas is as shot as everyone makes him to be. All those people are just little haters. Everyone says after the Trinidad fight, that he was never the same. Bull****. In the De La Hoya fight he did very good for the first 8 rounds. It was just De La Hoya's superior skill that beat him. Then, in the first Mosley fight, he was damn good, he applied pressure, landed big shots, kept coming foward and he was even up on one of the judges scorecards. I think its just him fighting at 154 pounds. In the training video for the second Mosley fight, he looked drained of energy and kept working though. I think its just to draining for him to make 154 now. I think he would be a way better fighter at 160 or maybe 162. What do you think?Comment

Maybe he wasn't "shot" after the Trinidad fight, but for sure he wasn't the same fighter after that fight...look at his first fight after the Tito fight, he got drop by Wilfredo Rivera on the 2nd round, a guy not know for his punching power...And yes he did good against DLH, but he was on roids...Comment

Vargas had the DLH fight in the bag until he started running outta gas in the 6th or 7th. The reason why he had the fight in the bag is because steroids made him a lot stronger. Vargas used to be a better boxer when he fought Winky, Quartey and then Trinidad. After the Trinidad fight, he never showed the same composure and boxing skills. Also back problems kept him out of the ring for some time. Inactivity was a big factor for him. Right now, he's completely shot, won't ever be the same and should consider teaming up with Oscar as a promoter.I dont think Vargas is as shot as everyone makes him to be. All those people are just little haters. Everyone says after the Trinidad fight, that he was never the same. Bull****. In the De La Hoya fight he did very good for the first 8 rounds.
