Duva Not Pleased With Toney-Peter Rematch

Good call by WBC...
Hope Toney gets his way this time...
Even though I really don't like Toney, losing to Peter again, will be the end of his career and I don't think this is the way for Toney to go...
I want his fat ass to hit the canvas and Peter is not the man to do it....
I say let Toney advance!

I agree after watching it again sober......Toney won but it was not a "Robbery" so to speak the wide margin on those judges scorecards was a joke but I think if they all gaveit to Peter by a round or so it would not have been too bad a call.......But Especially after the point deduction There is really no case for Peter winning.Comment

That's not the point. The terms where whoever won the first fight got a chance to fight Maskaev for the title. I wouldn't mind seeing Peter-Toney again but why not give Peter another shot at the title, he deserves it. After losing with Klitschko, Peter had to fight 3 times and win to get a title shot. Toney fought Ruiz for the WBA (he f*ked that up by taking steroids). Fights Dominick Guinn (wins) and immediately gets to fight Rahman for the WBC (fails again). Then, he fights Sam Peter to be considered for Maskaev's belt. If this isn't favoritism than what is?Comment

I dont see why not, I seriously doubt a fight between Peters & Maskaev would be more entertaining, the only reason why the Peters/Toney was entertaining was because of Toney, cause besides landing a few hard shots Peters really didn't do much.Comment

Anybody got the photo of Toney holding onto the rope when Peter tagged him or the photo of Toney beckoning Peter and his corner on?Comment

But the governing body issuing an edict that all but nullifies the decision of their paid judges isn't controversial in the least.Originally posted by [BDan Goosen][/B]
"I believe it was an injustice to James, not intentonally, but certainly one that didn't seem fair with the final decision. This is what we need in our industry, to get rid of controversy and do the right thing."
The decision was not based on the judges cards, it was based on the financial interests of We Be Criminals:
- The sanctioning fees of a title eliminator are higher than those of a regular fight and based on purse
- Enough people thought that Toney won to increase the likelihood of a higher purse, thus higher sanctioning fees
- Neither fighter by themselves would get a fight with near the possible purse for this rematch
- Toney is the larger draw, therefore has the possibility of a higher purse/sanctioning fees in the eventual Maskaev fight.
- The WBC allowed Maskaev a gimme fight that will not draw much of a purse, they have to make that money up somewhere
