Jhonny Gonzalez is one of my top 5 favorite fighters in the world right now and I wanted him to win this fight so bad because he was the underdog. Many criticized him after the win agaisn't Montiel.

But Israel Vasquez showed why he was the champ in this fight.

I really hope there will be a rematch.

If Gonzalez is even up to that after what he took in that fight. After that second knockdown you could tell he was very badly busted up and overall took the heavier punishment of the two.

I didnt think this fight was a war at all. Gonzalez was pretty boringly outboxing Vasquez while dropping him in the process. Then Vasquez dropped Gonzalez and the rest of that round was kind of exciting while Gonzalez survived. Then the next round was decent, nothing great. Then Vasquez knocked him out.

        Good fight, yes
        war,no

Its not like they went toe to toe or nothing. The first half was actually somewhat boring watching Gonzalez give a boxing lesson.

Vasquez put on his best Erik Morales' face in that fight. I really didn't expect Jhonny to get taken out like that in the end. He was in total control for the most part, though them knockdowns really hurt him mentally. Vasquez definitely showed heart because he looked like the done fighter after them knockdowns and busted bridge of nose. Good fight though not great.

I was going for Jhonny too, but Vazquez power and heart came into play and gave him the win. Bring on Vazquez vs. Marquez.
