Peter Ohkello actually ended up beating Maskaev for the WBC title. I mean this dude was credited with a knock down against Sinal Simon Samual aka Sinan Samil Sam.

Imagine Peter getting a pasting for 11 rounds, then just knocked Maskaev out cold. Few Weeks later the Rahman killer announces his retirement.

I thought that if Maskaev signed to fight Klitschko that Toney/Peter's people were ready to have the WBC strip him of the title for not facing his mandatory?

WBC allowed Maskaev one optional defense as long as it was held before the end of the year. Any champ is allowed at least one before they have to fight a mandatory.
