that makes sense. De la hoya don't want Pacquiao to destroy Barrera again and what best way to do that by signing him to the same company? This is great. Proves Barrera/GBP running out of excuses why they don't want to fight Pac again.Comment

Maybe Dela Hoya just wants Manny to take it easy on his sparring partners, particularly Vicente Escobedo and Juan Lazcano, both are GBP fighters.Comment

If Oscar can sign Pacquiao, he will definitely become the most lucrative promoter of boxing. Don King has very few fighters left.Comment

De La Hoya wants Pacquiao!
By Nick Giongco
Oscar De La Hoya did not mince words in revealing to this writer on Wednesday afternoon at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California, that he is training his sights on signing up Manny Pacquiao. "Obviously Manny Pacquiao is the best fighter at 130 lbs," De La Hoya said when he visited Freddie Roach's famed sweat shop on Vine St. "And he is a free agent and he is going to discuss business after the fight (with Erik Morales on Nov. 18) and we respect his wishes to talk after the fight.....We are very interested in Manny Pacquiao, just like everyone else is interested in him," said De La Hoya, who was accompanied by long-time friend and Golden Boy Promotions VP Eric Gomez. "Manny is the best and there are lots of big fights that he can do (for us)," said De La Hoya, the lone gold medal winner for the US in the 1992 Barcelona Games.Top Rank, headed by Bob Arum, is also eyeing to forge a tieup with Pacquiao. De La Hoya, however, is upbeat about his chnaces of working with the heavy-handed Filipino lefty. Asked why Golden Boy Promotions should be picked by Pacquiao, De La Hoya let out a hearty laugh before answering. "Easy," said De La Hoya, when pressed for a comment why someone like Pacquiao should instead go to him than with Top Rank. "Not only does he has a promoter who is also a fighter. I know what it takes to be in the ring. Golden Boy has all the best fighters and it (Golden Boy and Pacquiao) will be a perfect fit," added De La Hoya.Comment
