Walker, Butler and Tann, Head For Contender Status

LOS ANGELES, CA – In this era of professional boxing where there is no clear-cut, dominant world heavyweight champion, promoter Dan Goossen – undeterred by the recent highly-disputed decision loss sustained by his highest-ranked heavyweight James “Lights Out” Toney – is looking forward to the continued rise of a trio of talented boxers managed by Steve Munisteri and having them make a major impact in the division in 2007. I have seen these three fight this year and all look impressive. Walker destroyed John Clark and Tann did same to Dereck Berry. Both looked real good. Butler after setbacks looks like he is serious now and was in great shape last fight. Division needs this new blood.

I think Tann is pretty good. Tall, fast, decent power, but still learning (seems like he has a high learning curve as well).

Travis Walker is big and very strong, but not very talented. I was very unimpressed when he fought Jason Gavern on Fox Sports (looked like he could only punch with his right hand). I expect Estrada to put on a boxing clinic (if Estrada comes in under 250 and if Cliff Couser doesnt bite Estrada like he almost did to Tann).

I havent seen Rafael Butler, but his record indicates that he hasnt fought anybody and he lost by KO to a few men imitating boxers.

One interesting thing I noticed about the 3. Look at all their common opponents. 2 of the 3 have fought Troy Beets, Wallace McDaniel, Jason Gavern, et cetera.

Hard to tell these days who is a contender or a pretender until about 25-30 wins or in Valuev's case 40.

One thing for sure, I agree with the above from houston, the division needs some new guys. New guys are better than very old guys coming out of retirement and better than middleweights moving up to heavyweight
