tournaments, bad or good for boxing?

i know some of you guys are going to knock a tournament idea for boxing, but think about every major sport out there. they are all set up in a tournament fashion. basketball, football, hockey, golf, tennis, baseball, and all get more play on television, and there is only one champion at the end of these sports after a season. i realize boxing is very different as far as the mechanics go, but, if they tried it, i think boxing could benefit from a tournament style instead of the current style.

i think tournament style boxing would have a great positive impact for boxing. think about it, in a tournament you cant duck nobody, there would be no debate about who's the best. So many more fighters would get opportunities that they otherwise would never have. it would be a great idea, but i doubt it would ever happen

i could see it now, it would work like it works to get in the olympics, having to qualify first, and then off to the playoffs. where fighters will fight the standard 12 rounds, and then rest for a few weeks before the next fight. it would probably benefit society if boxing was more popular, just like sports such as football do. eh, no wonder boxing isn't popular, it's run by people looking out for themselves and not the sport.

another thing is, their shouldn't be any "champs" until the tournament is over, and only run this tournament once a year too, and the true stars can have side fights on pay-per-views. and, their should be some kind of comittee that gives the go on whether a fight is a pay per view worthy fight or not.
