Barrera Rolls Past Juarez, Pacquiao Next?

LAS VEGAS – Marco Antonio Barrera did not put out a maximum effort in his first fight against Rocky Juarez, and he came away with a disputed decision. He felt bad and wanted another shot to prove that he was much better and that Juarez had no right to believe he was in Barrera’s league.

Barrera didn’t expend much more effort in the rematch at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday night. But this time he was more pleased with his 12-round unanimous decision, even though many in the crowd of 10,421 did not share his sentiment. As Barrera was on his way to retaining his World Boxing Council super featherweight title, boos rained down from the crowd at moments during the fight and some people even called Barrera a dog.

“People came and paid their money and they came for entertainment,’’ Barrera said of the boo birds. “They can say what they want. But this is a sport where you are supposed to hit and not get hit.’’

Barrera (63-4, 42 KOs) had that down to a science as he outclassed and confounded Juarez, who didn’t appear to learn anything from the first match. [details]

Barrera should retire, Juarez has no substance and MAB couldn't put him to sleep..MAB is 32 or 33, so thats 38 years old in these light divisions, hang those gloves up. He ain't young and lively enough to hang with Paq..

although i think pacman is the toughest fight out there for barrera, he needs to have this fight for his legacy, win or lose fans want to see this fight before he retires. a lot of people say barreras scared of pacman, he doesnt want to fight him, etc... so barrera needs to prove to his fans and more important ly to himself that he can beat pacman. even though barrera will be 33 years old by the time he fights pacman, he has preserved himself very well and has only had 2 hard fights/wars since hes loss to pacman in his 3rd fight with morales and his 1st fight with juarez. now pacman is a tremendous fighter and a fighter that will apply constant pressure and punching to any fighter and barrera needs to fight a very smart and perfect fight against pacman, and although pacman is younger than barrera dont think that his fights with morales and marquez will have aged him, he too has been in some recent wars.

it would be a great fight and a perfect fight to end barreras career, win or lose
