Undefeated heavyweight contender Joe Mesi (33-0, 26 KOs) is still showing signs of rust and struggling with fighters that two-years ago would have been eaten up in a single round. Since his return to the sport in April, Mesi has appeared less than spectacular. Four fights are in the books since April and Mesi does not appear to be gaining the necessary progress to boost himself back to the same level as the Mesi of 2004. [details]

Do me(the sport) a favor and spread that love of boxing onto a friends and family-all it takes is one live prze fight for a casual sports fan and they are 9 times out of 10 hooked on the sport, you appear to be proof of this!
As for Baby Joe, at this rate his comeback looks like a nightmare, he should have at this point in the comeback started to show some signs of that devasatating power that when he was at his best made him somewhat dangerous...it just sounds like he is on a sure fire track to pain.
Did you see anything in Joe last night that would suggest otherwise?

Joe was never that great before he got injured in the Jirov fight. He was an OK heavy, but he could never compete with the likes of Toney, Peter, Wladimir, Valuev, and Byrd. He might be competitive against Oquendo, Ruiz, and Rahman, but Mesi was, at best, a C+/B- fighter. The heavyweight equivalent of Gatti. Tons of heart but not enough skill to compete at the top.
Let's face it, he beat Jirov in Jirov's first fight at heavyweight and got KD'd 3 times! He struggled with Monte Barrett BIG TIME and got what amounted to a home-town decision. This kid was just a cult idol in Buffalo and, after his injury, created more name recognition than he deserves.
On a side note, if Mesi is allowed to fight, why not let Edwin Valero fight?

I don't think Mesi should be allowed to continue anymore. If people are seeing how he's not improving that greatly over these last couple of fights and is expected to eventually take on the top contenders, he's going to get serious hurt. There is a difference clearly between Valero and Mesi. Valero got banned though immediately went out of the states and continued fighting without losing anything. He took on a huge risk, though in the end, he's the man in charge regardless of how risky it was. Now Mesi took years off and he's so done it's not even funny. Someone has to step up and tell him this because he's clearly seeing only the $$$ and he's going to get killed chasing it.
