Wayne McCullough should he fight again?

I just read about him wanting another world title shot and challeng Mark Johnson who he says challenged him to a fight. In my opinion both these guy should retire. Seeing McCullough fight with Larios was enough for McCullough to retire. He's been fighting for many years and he should just enjoy his new career as a trainer, he's doing really good training the Andrande brothers and should get consitrate training them and not fight again.

    Absolutely.......

NOT. He should not be let back in the ring, he has had too many tough wars over the years and hasn't remained terribly competitive in many of them lately. I first thought he should've hung them up after the Harrison fight, in which he just took terrible punishment for 12 rounds. He has no defense at all, maybe somme of the worst defense I've ever seen. And this isn't news, he just can't get away from punches.

McCullough is a brave man, but boxers sometimes need to be protected from their own tendencies. Although never officially down, the beating he sustained against Larios last year that prompted a suspension of his license looked nothing short of dangerous. However, he was allowed to regain his license and is now going to be back in ring probably, which was inevitable. Luckily, or perhaps unluckily, he will be in there with a guy who is maybe equally shot in Mark Johnson.

Johnson, who in his last fight also suffered his first stoppage loss, is not the dangerous young fighter that can go out there and overwhelm a faded warrior. He probably won't do the kind of damage Larios did, but even still this is not something you want to see. If they do fight, I will not be watching out of protest. If these guys want to hurt themselves, good for them. It's my right not to watch the senselessness.

I just don't understand what they have to prove anymore. McCullough has been around for a longtime. Ever since he trained with Eddie Futch he's been in tough fights. Johnson never got back to the stage he was once at after he came out of jail, they both made good money, they should just retire, and trian new talent.

I have no idea either. McCullough is a writer for The Ring, and has a really successful life outside of the ring. Johnson owns many businesses in and around the Washington D.C. area, and aside from the child support is pretty financially secure. I wanted him to retire after the second fight with Marquez, he was stopped and really could've gone out with some dignity. Then he got stopped on body shots by Ivan Hernandez after some people actally thought he had something left. He said after the Gonzales fight that he would fight once more and retires, I hope he keeps his word. As for McCullough, who is the epitomization of a fighter being too tough for his own good, his family or someone close needs to intercede and tell the man enough is enough. You hate to see great fighters at the end fall apart, but it happens.

McCullough has been a world class pro over the years and competed with some of the worlds finest boxers, but enough is enough.Another tough war could prove life threatening. After watching the Harrison fight i thought he had one fight too many,
then watching Larios take him apart was difficult to watch.I personally hope this fight falls through.

I agree with you guys about having nothing to prove. At some point there has to be someone advising both McCullogh and Johnson that even if they are succesful they have no chance at a legit title and run the risk of suffering real damage. That's where a comission should come in, but if they both pass the physicals? That's where common sense must come in.
