Vazquez is dead meat if he puts it in his head he wants PAC. He's smaller and we all know PAC just toys with smaller guys and picks them apart.
A definite mismatch.

Vasquez has been talking about eventually facing Pac for two years now. After Pac faced Larios, he's been singing that song even more often.
It seems to me that he envies what Larios got (aka, $400 big ones) and wants to have a good payday too. Vasquez may be champ but he hasn't gotten any purse close to what Oscar earned and the only thing in the horizon that can give him that kind of money is getting in the ring with Pacquiao.
Pac may give Vasquez a date but only to give a sparmate a good payday, provided the match can be marketed well.
Marco, in a lesser manner, did that at least once:
In December '99, in a non-title tiff, Barrera KOd Cesar Najera in the fourth at the Fantasy Springs Casino, Indio,CA. Days later the fight was declared an exhibition match and the outcome was relegated to NC after it was found out that Najera was Barrera's sparring partner.
While Najera cannot come close to Vasquez in whatever fashion (stature, talent, skill, accomplishments...) and it is silly to compare the two, I think Pac-Vasquez cannot be ruled out for reasons that can include the one detailed above.
Moreover, if they get together, it shall not be the first time that sparmates duke it out competitively for fame, recognition, fortune or some type of title.Last edited by grayfist; 09-13-2006, 09:02 PM.

IF vasquez wins against Gonzalez, his most likely target would be Rafa Marquez.
BUT for the sake of arguement, they have been sparring partners in Roach's gym and it's safe and easy to say that Vazquez lacks power to hurt Pacquiao. So if they fight, It's gonna be Pacquiao dominating Vasquez.

Also, Bernard Hopkins used to be the sparring partner of John David Jackson and they met for Hopkins' IBF title after Jackson lost his WBA version to Jorge Fernando Castro in a fight that was picked by The Ring as FOY '94.
Not all fights between sparmates (former or current) can be classified as similar to MAB-Najera.Last edited by grayfist; 09-13-2006, 09:56 PM.
