In a press conference held in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, the WBO recognized undefeated strawweight champion Ivan 'Iron Boy Calderón as a super champion, a distinction which is awarded after 10 succesful title defenses. Calderón will make his next title defense in Panama City, Panama on October 14 when he faces Jose Luis Varela in a 12 round bout. The main event for this event will feature Roberto 'La Araña' Vázquez and WBA flyweight champion Lorenzo Parra. PR Best Boxing and Ring Productions will be the promoters.

He is a great boxer even though he does have power and is really small and that what makes him intersting. he should go for unifacation after that and dominate his class instead of going up in wieght.

The problem is that none of the other champs at 105 want a piece of him, he needs to step up to 108 and fight Cazares, Dieppa, Viloria, Nino and those guys.

But its a risky move for him he doesnt have power even at the minin wieght so he need to be extra careful and not make a single mistake.

His record shows he doesn't have power, but when he actually sits down on his punches he gets the opponents respect. Definitely, those other guys at 108 have more power than he does, but how are they gonna hit something they can't catch?
