Why pay thousands of dollars to learn History, Psychology, Political Science, etc. when you can buy a book on your own or go to the library and educate yourself.
The most important thing to know is to know how to READ...if you can read, you can learn "how to" by understanding the instructions.

I learned more on my own than I ever did in school.

College is more about CONNECTIONS and SEX than anything else, unless you are trying to become a medical Doctor, then you better get the proper teaching or else don't work on me.
I'm an high school drop out! The only part of education is important is learning how to write good, which you can tell from my writing skills are not that good!

Education is key for success...the more you know the more you can acquire and lower your risk of losing it. "Education", which is learning, is all around you, take advantage or be taken advantage of.

Another key is to find a Mentor(s) that is smart

Unfortunately, society is not set up to reward the autodidactic any more. There are extremely rare cases of people without a degree achieving great success and wealth, but it's the exception, not the rule. The days of people like Richard Branson and Bill Gates achieving financial success on a great level are long gone. The very few who do it, and who have done it throughout history, were generally on a different intellectual plane than the average person.

Society around the world rewards the sheepskin, not the knowledge.

You can learn though: read books by authors that are known for their literary skills...build your vocabulary by memorizing the vocabulary from one of the SAT practice guide books...most of the words you probably heard before but just fail to use them in your everyday vocabulary…they are not words that make you sound ridiculous like DON KING (though I don't actually think they are words), but instead enables you to be comprehensible.

Need I point out the irony in this?

            No, lol

I am lazy when it comes to posting on message boards so I just type fast to get out what I am "tyring to say", which leads to many mistakes

I am still a work in progress so maybe I should slow it down

There will always be entrepreneur's though, and people who find ways of being successful, but you're right, society is not set up to reward the autodidactic.

It seems a lot has to do with whom you know, rather than what you know

It should not matter if you are "self-taught", if you are knowledgeable in the field you should be given the chance to prove yourself, anything else is Un-American.

There have always been prejudices throughout history between social classes, but you shouldn’t let that stop you.

It is true that if you do not have a "college education" that management in the workforce tends to look down on you, but there are ways to succeed.

The people at the top don't hold absolute power, people at the middle and the bottom allow them to, knowingly or not.
