I was at home watching a random fight it was a black boxer against a white boxer. I automatically wanted to black guy to knock the white boxer out. When the black fighter lost I shook my head in disappointment. The next fight was 2 white fighters and as soon as I saw that I hit the fast forward on the tivo. How do you feel about the subject does this make me a racist?
Racist? Everyone is a bit racist because race is something we are all conscious of, though to different degrees and in different ways. For you to express your racial feelings through rooting for black boxers is fine, if this doesn't reflect the way you treat the non-black people you encounter in life. Most of the people I care about in this world are black; I'm white, and I don't think the fact that these people are black affects my friendship with them in any significant way. But I'll be honest, I'm more apt to root for a white fighter (or basketball player) because I think sports are a special case for white people when it comes to dealing with black people. I think part of this has to do with anger at other white people for being intimidated by black athletes. I hate white people who prefer black athletes to white, because I think they feel comfortable in their feeling of inferiority. But this is not the same thing as hatred for black people, which I don't have. So my answer to your question is no, it does not necessarily mean you are 'racist' in any regrettable or unhealthy way, and the fact that you asked the question in the way you did is admirable. Good K sent also.
what ever happend to looking at ones ability to make the judgement of who to root for, or the way they conduct themselves inside the ring. color, i think that is more of a personal hang up myself. when in fighting it doesn't make a bit of difference of white or black or brown or yellow. for me it's all about whether they deserve to be inside the ring as a professional. some do and some don't.
race, color, amd all that mess is up to you to make it something or nothing, it's all in how you act and handle it.
me personally skll and heart are the most things that sway me on who i'm going to root for and who i like. other than that who gives a **** what color they are.
ooh i will mention this though, if a fighter is known for being a religious FREAK( i mean major )then i tend to not root for them, mainly because they push it on others and force us to listen to them preach after they just FOUGHT ANOTHER MAN! pretty lame in my opinion.

I think as you spend more and more time around boxing you learn to appreciate talent, doesn't matter where it comes from. Still, you always want yours to win.
im not boxing racist
im just plain good ole fashion racist
Lol
example
yesterday at work me and a friend(hes black) were racing
see who could finish with a higher percentage
so we threw down 10bucks each
then had the problem of who hold the cash
he said gary will hold it
i said *** nah
he goes why
and gary asked to
so i whispered to my friens as if i didnt want gary to hear
but i said it so he and everyone around could hear to
"cuz hes black..."
man the whole room was kracken up
even gary
he laughed the hardest
and loudest
highest piched
Lol how blaque was that

I don't think that this makes you a racist, it may have more to do with how and where you were raised. However, i do agree with another post i have read on this subject which questions your value as a boxing fan e.g. the fact that you skipped a fight because it involved two white fighters is quite narrow minded, if not exactly racist. The subject of racism pisses me off and i wish there wasn't a place for it in any sport. Boxing is a sport with a vast majority of races and i value each fighter on ability etc, not the colour of their skin.
