Why do so many continue to talk about the "White Hope" when talking about the Heavyweight Title?

The majority of the most popular and best skilled Heavyweight Champions have always been African American, and I am talking about from Jack Johnson on.

Dempsey was the most popular of all the "White" Champions, which the number compared to the "African American" are so low its not really worth discussing...of course you have Rocky Marciano, but he was really a LH/CW, so really wouldn't count him even though the majority love to do.

That is why people love to talk about Rocky Marciano and his 49-0 LF/CW record. "Rocky could knock down a wall with one of his Suzie Qs"; "Rocky had the greatest chin in the world, not even a Grizzly Bear could knock him down"; "Rocky had so much stamina he once ran around the world in 80 days"...really tired of hearing all this nonsense.


The bottom line is it shouldn't matter what "Color" skin someone has...I can't believe people can't get over this ****...we are talking about "Skin Color"...why don't we just talk about hating on someone's eye color...while were at it, lets only like blonde hair, blue eye, "white" boys...Seriously, WTF is up with all this talk in the year 2006?
Give me a fighter that cares about his craft, that is skilled, and all the rest of the attributes to make a Great Champion, and I will be his fan.



Lets not talk about the current "White" fighters either, they may have the balls to fight and they deserve respect, but they are simply not that great to watch nor do I think of any of them as "All time Greats"...maybe Wlad if he doesn't lose again and wins in big fashion from here on out.

That is why I was soo happy when he lost.

Even if he is robbed makes it better. It like people in boxing business dont want to make him a HW champ.

A guy talks **** 99.9% of the time derseve it. I just wish some of those champ will KO Toney into his mescry.

I understand your point, but think about what you said, thats bull**** in my opinion:

Toney, in my opinion, won that fight.
If he really did deserve the nod then he derserves the win.
Why would you want anything else?

Crap like this is what makes our sport bad...there has to be a NEED for the winner to be actually the WINNER, no matter who the person is.


If the devil beat the **** out of an angel and lost the fight because of the judges, I would be disappointed, even if I rooted for the angel.

I just need to know who really is the best and need to see that everybody gets a fair shake.

James Toney is a nobody that has always come up short in his biggest fights. Well, at least he won at cruiser and supermiddle, the two no-mans land divisions of boxing...yeah HOF my whiteass

Toney is trained by FREDDIE ROACH, and if you haven't noticed, Freddie looks Vanilla...I am also not sure on James's original trainer, but I thought I heard he was a Vanilla ***ish guy, though I may be way off...but if he was "***ish" I guess the person doesn't count as not only a "White" person, but not a person at all since he killed Jesus and they are the devil, so a "Black" man and the "***" deserve eachother

I agree. James just likes to piss people off, hes only playing around. Most people in the gym with him don't get angry at his racial comments because they know hes talking ****.

Come on guys, Toney is not a racist. He talks **** to all races equally, hell, he promised to send Peter back to Africa in a boat (which I thought was pretty funny). He talks **** to everybody and everywhere, you don't get pissed at Martin Lawrence when he makes fun of white people because we all know it's a comedy act. This **** is no different.

It is high time James Toney retired. His performance in the ring is deteriorating with every bout and his mouthing off is becoming as tiresome as George Bush's propaganda. It is too bad that Sam Peter let him off so easy.
