Why does James Toney mumble

When you get fat you sound like that, Toney isn't slow like Hearns, Holyfield etc...He just sounds different because he's older and heavier.

I agree. Toney is almost impossible to understand. What a prick. The guys should have stayed at SMW. I'm sure he was making good money. Look at him now, fat and ghastly looking. Why he wanted to do that **** to his body, I'll never undestand. Sure, there is much more money to be made at HW, but as I said I'm sure he was making decent money at SMW. Just seems like lazy to me. Didn't want the hassle of maintaining fitness so he moved up to a division where he can eat as much as he likes.

if hes calm and collected he dosnt mumble that much but if hes hyped up he starts doing it bad...i think the extra weight just makes him shorter of breath and being the big talker he is his words tend to just slide around before they come out right

i dont think hes punch drunk because he hasnt took a whole lotta punishment

James Toney is known to spar LOADS, infact all of his trainers have had to try get him to cut down the sparring.

He just loves to fight, because he's always hated the world (due to his father leaving when he was a kid).

30 years of being punched every day takes it toll..

No he has'nt taken a WHOLE lot of punishment, But all the while he's been getting hit by L heavys, Cruisers and of late heavys. What Im saying is he does get hit and sometimes clean, He has such a great chin it seems like the punches have'nt even landed! It's mostly the heavy weight punches that have taken their toll a little! Though I don't think it's anything to worry about
