Maskaev has faced alot of adversity in his life and has made a great comeback, an amazing comeback actually. He has all the right people on his team and my prediction is that he is going to win by KO in 8 or by unanimous decision.

What people are not considering is that Maskaev has one punch power too (see Rahman vs. Maskaev 1). Add that to conditioning and technical skills far superior to that of Sam Peter and you will receive example no. 2 of why Sam Peter will never be a great heavyweight fighter, example 1 losing to Klitschko by decision despite flooring him 3 times.

Peter is a puncher whose enormous lack of skill is going to show more and more now that he is near the top of the division.

And James Toney won that fight. He was robbed by some of the worst scoring I've ever seen. Even worse than this year's Wright/Taylor fight, which should have went to Winky, who was backing up Taylor for the entire fight with combinations and landing jab after jab because Taylor refused to adjust to Wright's southpaw stance and kept his relaxed style. Had Taylor brought his left hand up after being clocked over and over I would have a different opinion.

But since the shots Taylor did get on Wright seemed slower and ore powerful he was able to get a draw, despite the fact that Wright was technical, aggressive and accurate. Wright finished the fight unscathed. Taylor was very swollen, and if you saw the fight you know you can't blame that solely on accidental head collisions.

    It is a damn shame.

And it repeated with Toney vs. Peter. Peter looked dumb and downright awful. He missed a huge percentage because he has no skill compared to James Toney. Sam Peter fought an incredibally dirty fight, though it seemed unintentional. When he had Toney on the ropes and at a distance he used his left hand to physically push Toney and hold him back while he threw sloppy right hands. He backhanded James. He did the King Hippo double punch while the ref was breaking a clinch.

He was outsmarted, outboxed and surprisingly outclassed by Toney, until after the fight when Toney had to be held back from going after Peter's manager. At the end of 12, Toney was unscathed and Peter was swollen and bloodied.

The judges gave Peter the split decision win, while the press box judges scored a unanimous decision for Toney.

I for one think this sort of thing is an outrage.

If Peter comes around 243-253, its lights out for Maskaev, Maskaev just had Rahman's number...

After maskaev beat rahman the first time, he got knocked out by kirk johnson and lance whitaker, samuel peter would knock out both of these two.

I know im going to be flamed by toney fans, even though I thought scoring 116-111 for Peter is insane, but Peter is going to be a champion after the maskaev fight.keep in mind maskaev is getting old too, 38

I dunno, my heart says Peter.

        My brain says Maskaev.

Maskaev can afteral move his head and avoid the big punches.

Unlike Toney, who just moves his head cause he is so fast Maskaev can move his whole body.

He might get knocked down a few times but stand up and win a decision.

        Who knows...

Not quite a robbery but horrible decision.

at the moment, i'd say Peter TKO/KO around 8-9
I watched the fight yesterday, and I think Toney won by 2 points. It would have been 1 but for the point deduction! I was rooting for Toney for sure. I don't have Toney ahead enough for it to be called a robbery, and he by no means dominated that fight. I was gutted he did'nt get that decision and hope he does'nt retire
