    Great Fight Last Night

With all the hub-bub of who won the Peter/Toney fight, it's easy to forget that what everyone got to see was a really great HW fight. I just finished watching the fight and I gotta say that I think James Toney won that fight by about 3 points. Even with that in mind I agree that some of those rounds were really hard to judge. All this added up to be one hell of a HW boxing match. No matter what your opinion is on who actually won the fight, just be thankful that it was entertaining at the very least. I hope to see more stuff like this in the future.

Big props to Toney (whom i had big doubts about) for sticking it through with the biggest puncher in the league.

No doubt it was an entertaining fight. For two big guys, they made a good fight.

I didn't see the kind of dominance from Toney like many were saying. I thought it was rather close in a few rounds but the thing was a good bout altogether.

It's def. not a "boring and lackluster" division anymore

if they were both in better shape, that coulda been an amazing fight. like a FOTY fight for heavyweights.

                it was a great fight

It was a great fight in spite of the poor or corrupt judging, and most of the credit goes to James Toney who knows just about everything there is to know about boxing. All young fighters should watch tapes of how Toney defends against big punchers without clinching like a coward. He uses angles, his gloves, shoulders, tucks his chin, moves his head and keeps his concentration. He also has a pretty good chin, which was tested a few times by Sam Peter.

Actually I like both fighters. Peter is a big puncher but his technique is still poor, especially with his overhand right. It's a huge punch, sort of a giant rabbit punch, but it's not that hard to prepare for. Peter's jab is fair but he really doesn't have a big arsenal nor does he throw straight punches as often as he should. He's also vulnerable to eating a lot of jabs. The shorter Toney outlanded Peter by plenty from what I saw, especially with his jab. I think it's pretty clear now that Sam Peter will never be a great boxer, just a strong, durable guy with a big, clubbing punch.

Yeah seeing an old fat out of shape middleweight completely embarrass the biggest puncher in the division and even outbox and outfight him does wonders for heavyweight boxing. LOL
