    Last Night's Fight

I have seen countless "JT got robbed" posts and I really don't feel like going through all of them, so I'll start my own thread. First, I want to say that I am not a big fan of either guy although in terms of skill Toney is incredible. His defense is tremendous and his counterpunching is a gift. However, I think Peter was succesful in doing something other boxers could not and that's bullying Toney on the ropes. True that Toney still made his masterful counters work, but I don't remember any other opponent being so succesful at landing good shots while JT was on the ropes. Jirov was close but not really like Peter. Sam made the fight sloppy at times, which worked great for him and made for a close, action packed bout.

All in all I did not see a robbery, since I saw Peter win a razor thin 114-113 decision, but I don't agree with that 116-111 Peter scorecard. That was way off. To me, Peter got a close call that could have gone either way. Toney brought the skills, Peter the brute force and it was one of those rare ocassions when strenght surpassed science, although narrowly.

Looks like no one agrees. Everyone has the "JT was robbed" ideology.

i dont agree with ur scorin,or u sayin that peter won the fight, but u have fair points in sayin that peter did well, and what he did worked and seemed 2 be more effective 2 toney than a good amount of fighters tactics

Not everyone. The fight was way too close to be called a 'robbery'...more like a close one that could have gone either way. Toney got hit more than he ever does, and regardless of what he said in the post fight interview, he FELT those shots too. Nobody can take a right hand from Peter and NOT feel it, he just hits too damn hard. I was disappointed in Peter for coming in so heavy and for not spending the entire first 3 rd's of the fight working Toney's body. He should have limited himself to throwing punches only to the body (for atleast 2-3 rd's), then go for the head! The results may have been much different. Peter's lack of experience showed, especially when compared to the extent of Toneys. He really REALLY needs to work on technique and defense so he can get somewhere in the division (lol, in my opinion anyway ) He's got a decent chin and a ko punch...the rest can be learned.

Yeah, the fight was way close. That's why I can't understand these "robbery" claims. Toney is a master boxer who, technically speaking, dominated the fight, but Peter landed the heavier shots and was able to finish strong in several of the close rounds.
