In NY, you have to apply at the commission's office, and then judge 300 amateur rounds. The you take another written exam and you can judge pro bouts.Originally posted by deuce_drophow do you become a judge in boxing? if *******s like the judges last night can get the job, then any schmo can do it.
but seriously, what do you have to do to become a boxing judge? i would love to persue that kind of gig.
I'm either going to get my second's or judging certification, too bad I can't have both

I know a guy in CT who got to be a pro judge based on the fact that he knew our Governor at the time. He lasted one show I think before even the head guy had to concede he was not qualifiedComment

The same problem we have with our amateurs not creating good pros in, the same can be said of the judges. On the real, the worst judging in the world is the butchering job the amateur judges do when scoring fights.Originally posted by ICEMAN JOHN SCULLYI know a guy in CT who got to be a pro judge based on the fact that he knew our Governor at the time. Nice to hear you had a sane take Ice.Originally posted by ICEMAN JOHN SCULLYFight like JT-PETER show me something continuously..that in MANY cases it is the announcers, ringside reporters and guys like YOU that call the score correctly and NOT the paid judge.
I had it 116-111 Toney.
It was a competitive fight because of Peter's size and strength, but scoring wise it was clear Toney was landing more often and more accuratly in the majority of the rounds. Peter obviously had a very low connect % and didn't land clean very often.
38 and in soft shape, Toney put on a throw back preformance mixing in great counter shots and used his jab well.
I can't see how anyone could have scord this fight for Peter. Looking at how 80-85% of people on here (and there's a lot of ******s on this site) had it for Toney, and it's easy to see he should have got the nod in the fight.
What really got me after the fight (and I really don't get too shocked anymore with those decisions) was how the two judges that had it for Peter had it 9 rounds to 3. Un-****ing-real.Comment

Just good to hear it from a fighter's point of view.
