There. I said it.
I hate it when there's a disputed decision on here and someone always says "yo, I wanna know what compubox has to say about this ****in' BS!"
Now, even assuming that compubox is accurate, it only registers the number of punches landed and punches thrown.
It doesn't take into account ring generalship, skill, time periods, etc.
A guy could land 500 punches in the first five rounds, get gassed and do **** all for the rest of the fight. But because Compubox would have him landing more at the end, that means he's "won" despite the fact that he only won the first five rounds?
Another example. A master boxer could be using all his skill to effortlessly win a round, say two and a half minutes. The other guy manages to catch him with a flurry in the last thirty seconds (like some of Tarver-Jones I) and compubox might have him up for that round. So does that mean he's won the round?
James Toney won the fight last night IMO. But he did it on skill, defence, strategy and ability. He didn't do it because some computer registered more punches landed.
Compubox is a fun tool, but its use as a be-all and end-all to deciding who won a fight is limited.
