Samuel Peter has not connected on one decent punch to the chin or face in either his match against Wladimir or against Toney. His style seems to consist of throwing ridiculously wide hooks that an opponent easily ducks and then continuing the punching motion until it hit the back of the opponent's neck. This approach really should not be allowed. If your punches are so consistently wide that you are constantly hitting behind your opponent then it should be treated like any other rabbit punch foul.
Why is Peter allowed to land rabbit punches

Jeff Lacy has a similar style. I seen him KO Scott Pemberton with a punch to the back of the head, and he was constantly doing it to Robin Reid. In America they seem to get away with it.
In Britain it's still there, just not as blatantly obvious, and they don't power punch eachother in the back of the head. Just one of those things, only in America I suppose...Comment

I kind of disagree with this, in last night's fight, certainly. (Not so much the Wlad one).
If Toney is ducking into the punches and Peter can't pull back on them in time, then it's an accidental foul that's equally - if not more so - Toney's fault IMO. Peter is throwing them at the target area, it's not his fault that he's missing and that he's so slow he can't pull them back or alter their trajectory in time. Just my opinion.Comment

it's his signature punch, it's what he's known for, hitting the back of the head.
it's damn near the only thing he can do in the ring, the judges last night must have loved them and thought they were special punches to give peter the score of 116-111....****ing pathetic, peter, his team, his promoters, and the judges, pathetic.Comment

very true.........if the fighter keeps turning his back, its going to hit him on the back (head, body, etc)......Originally posted by !! AnorakI kind of disagree with this, in last night's fight, certainly. (Not so much the Wlad one).

what about when peter was pushing toney's head down and then trying to club down on the back of his head. peter was doing that all night.Originally posted by !! AnorakI kind of disagree with this, in last night's fight, certainly. (Not so much the Wlad one).

toney's defense, anyones defense for that matter, is sometimes bending at the waist bobbing and weaving, and moving side to side. any punch that comes down in a clubbing fashion is hitting in the back of the head, and thats what peter was doing when Toney used that part of his defense. alot of peters punches find their way to the back of his opponents heads, at this point it is obvious that it is peter, and not EVERYONE he fights.Comment

After watching last night's bout, it's clear that Peter only has two punches in his arsenal: A lazy jab and a clubbing right hand, which more often than not hits the back of the head of his opponent.
Toney was open for the left hook, I don't know why Peter didn't throw more of them.Comment

Toney was turning his head so most weren't really rabbit punches. If you duck when they throw a right hand it's not a rabbit punch.Comment
