31.08.06 - By Izyaslav “Slava” Koza: Although Sultan Ibragimov is currently spending time at home in Russia his manager, Boris Grinberg, was gracious enough to share a few brief words with us about the future of his most promising fighter:
“Sultan is currently vacationing in Dagestan, his homeland, (Southern Russia) and will come back as soon as we know something about his next opponent. I think a rematch with Austin is not necessary because our point was proven, but the world of boxing is so volatile in terms of change that you never know what will happen in the future. You have Briggs signing with King for a possible Lyakhovich fight, and that might be Sergei’s first serious paycheck.
I think when Sultan returns we will be looking for a high profile opponent to take us to the top, and if things go right possibly getting one of the belts by the end of the year. I think Sultan could very well unify the titles next year if we get the right opportunities.
We are also looking to make a few changes to our camp in order for Sultan to reach his absolute full potential.”
Special thanks to both Boris and Lourdes Carrero at Warrior Boxing for providing the necessary contact information. Hopefully we can get a few words from Sultan in the coming weeks regarding his future as well as definite information regarding his next bout.
