    Ease Up on UFC Bashing

It appears that one of the current trends is for everyone to say how much the UFC sucks but seriously what did it do? It appears to be an object of hate for no reason other than it has some success, similar to how so many people hate the Yankees and PBF.

First off Dana White and the UFC were smart in introducing many new fans to MMA in general. The TUF show introduced the sport and largely educated many on the subtlties of MMA in particular the ground fighting, i.e. arm bars, which was previously thought of as no skill laying on top of each other. Dana White and the UFC didn't take fans from Boxing or Pride, they generated a new fan base that will only help Pride and MMA in general.

Unlike the Alphabet Sanctioning bodies and the avaristic Promoters who are merely parasites to there sport. Dana White has actualy improved his sport of MMA here in the states and should be commended and given some respect for that.

BTW, I am not asserting that UFC is better than Pride, pride is better. But UFC has done more for MMA in the States than Pride has. I also dont see why one's sports rise has to be the others downfall? I'll continue to love both Football and baseball and I'll continue to watch both boxing and MMA.

The UFC are showing that they are masters of promoting their product. I was in the gym yesterday and saw about three people with UFC related gear on. It's nuts. Even people talking on street about the UFC as I pass. I don't see boxing gettting that kind of love anymore.

what you just said is the exact truth. To many people feel that you cant like one without hating the other.

they are on the ground trying to get a better position. What you see as boring other see as masterful. If people actually took time to understand the sport they would like it. You must remember, both guys understand that if they get careless and let a punch fly while in the guard they could easily get caught in an a la plata, armbar, triangle choke, americana, etc... There is more to worry about in mma then most people understand.

Thats just it, your judging MMA by boxing standards. Punches dont have to be landed in order to inflict damage or win a fight. Recent example of good judo and ground figthing can be seen in Diego Sanchez vs Karo Parysian. You will see some excellent Judo throws and two mongooses on the ground. You will see how skillfully they attempt submissions on each other, counter, reverse and transition.

It really is exciting for those who are a bit more knowledgable with MMA and particular ground fighting.

But in general try and watch some Pride Events which should spark some interest with you as it tends to be a bit more standup and strike than the UFC.

I like UFC, its been growing on me as a sport these past couple of years...Chuck Liddell has become one of my favorite fighters (particularly because he's a striker, and likes to fight on his feet rather than on the ground.)Boxing is still my favorite though and its sad it barely gets any love anymore, there are hardly any fans where i live, which is why i like going on here.

Although the one-punch KO has upset the prohibitive favorite on occasion, it is indeed a rarity. In the UFC, because of the various ways you can win, any given fighter can be beaten on any given night. In boxing, one might make a mistake and get dropped by a right counter. Enter the Octagon, commit an error and you can be in one of a number of un-escapable submission holds or chokes, all this in addition to the possibility of getting knocked out.

There is rarely upsets in boxing, but in the UFC anything can happen to anyone.

People hate it because surfer boy fan crowd of UFC tries to make it look like UFC has the best fighters on the damn planet when it clearly isnt and talent is something only 3% of the whole UFC scene posses.

                    Thats why people hate.

If UFC boys just shut the **** up and respected other disciplines of the whole fight game then I wouldnt give a **** what UFC does. However when I get some little looser saying some shamrock d00de will knock out both Ali and Tyson on the same night I cant help but hate.
