Golden Boy has a reputation for putting guys in the real fights. That has been to their cost at times - see Vicente Escobedo. I think it's not too late for Marquez to make a noise and since he was talking with De La Hoya all night on the first Barrera-Juarez fight, this does not surprise me at all.

Very true, I call it "the Oscar Delahoya standard".

As you mentioned they did it with Escobedo and they did it with Barrera. If Golden Boy Prod. signs you, they really belive in you.

But! One that i don't understand is why did they let Jose Navarro go when he was still undefeated?

I'm not sure they did. Wasn't he still under their banner when he first lost in Japan?

I really thought De Leon would go elsewhere because it seemed as if the relationship between him and Golden Boy was not ideal. Perhaps De Leon's last fight has a lot to do with this; he looked ****ing awesome, and regardless of how fundamentally unsound he is, he's great TV, and a champion.
