I just didn't like the way he seemed to hang his hat on his power alone when he shoul dhave had Klitschko out of there.

I noticed in the Williams fight that Peter's hands are pretty quick. If he's focused on throwing everything with intent and having his feet set, he can do a good job with Toney. If he throws wild and expects just to cathc toney, he will have a hard time of it because Peter himself is about 15 pounds above a good fighting weight for himself.

i think that peter just might jump toney in the first round, and if not definatly in the second. if james survives that then he will loose to a late tko/ko

Peter himself said he will stop Toney in the 4th round.

I don't know about that, and I think that's pushing it. JT can take a punch, and even if he gets tagged.....I think he'll get back up if he does indeed fall.

The thing is......Toney complained about his midsection hurting him after the Rahman fight....and he might have sustained some serious injury to his internal organs. At least that's the impression Toney was giving in his interview with BS. Body shots are crucial and gaurding the midsection will be key for Toney, because Sam isin't afraid to get hit in the face, and especially not by Toney.

As for the video, yeah. That's just run of the mill, but I don't know where you guys are getting the impression that Peter has fast hands. Let's not get carried away.

He's a bear end of story, but his hands are not that fast. In the video.......he wasn't committing to the punches and was just trying to hit the target.

When you develop a rythim, you can speed your punches up and they remain accurate.....giving the impression of him "hitting fast". That's just going about the motions.

Nothing changes the fact that Peter has more power than he should have, evidenced by him merely touching Julius Long on the gloves and him falling nearly unconscious.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, Samuel Peter has the heaviest hands in boxing since George Foreman. Those little love taps in the beginning of the video sound like the average heavyweight's earnest attempt at power punching. Like Louis said of Marciano: "He doesn't know much about the boxing book, but it was a whole library he hit me with". When you have that natural power and durability that Peter possesses, you can make your own rules in boxing.

I just wish he'd come in a little lighter for the sake of his stamina.

Oh I also think Peter has underrated speed. The loop in his punches don't show it off very well but the guy is quicker than average, especially for his size.

Boxing isin't just about, and never was just about "boxing skill".

Exactly. That is my main argument in backing Margarito against Mayweather as well and why I think Baldomir will do better than many think against the much smaller and weaker Mayweather. Not many people on this forum want to listen though.

Let's take what Jeremy Williams said for instance. After he woke up from being unconscious.....he said he'd be better off quitting boxing because he quote: "Lost to a guy like that".

This is the mindset among many.

They equate everything to actual boxing skill....and they don't really pay attention to the fact that his opponent was built like a six foot tall mountain gorilla.

Regardless of what anyone says I don't think Peter has good enough stamina to win against Toney. Also I'd be suprised if Toney was hurt by Peter. I really don't care who wins but I think it will be James Toney.
