Calzaghe to fight Bika

Joe Calzaghe’s Oct. 14 opponent has finally been named after last week’s postponed announcement.

But it’s little surprise that the foe, Sakio Bika, fits quite snugly into the anonymous and unknown category. Fighters of that ilk are far cheaper to bring over to the U.K. And predictably, the choice has led to much discord among those with a more than casual interest in boxing.

However, Bika, of Cameroon, is a symbolic opponent. He has a technical draw against Markus Beyer of Germany. Beyer fights Mikkel Kessler in a WBC/WBA unification on the same date over in Denmark.

****! I really thought that by posting this somebody could give me a clue who Bika is, but it turned out that we're all asking the same question.

I guess the guy's best accomplishment is getting that draw against Beyer.
