HBO HOLDS KEY TO JERMAIN TAYLOR’S GREATNESS…FANS SHOULD DEMAND ABRAHAM-MIRANDA!

27 August, 2006 by Cliff Rold

    ABRAHAM-MIRANDA POSTPONED

Landover, MD-Every fight fan knows the gnawing disappointment that occurs when a potentially great fight is cancelled or postponed. It’s as if Christmas day arrives and your parents announce that presents won’t be opened until New Years Day; it might make New Years interesting, but Christmas is ruined. That’s sort of how I felt last week when it was announced that the bout between Ring Magazine’s #2 and # 6 contenders, Artur Abraham (21-0, 17 KOs and IBF titlist) and Edison Miranda (26-0, 23 KOs), was postponed until September 23 due to Abraham having a nasty bout of flu. Despite my personal disappointment, there could still be a silver lining.

El: I thought I was fair to Taylor with this being the most opinionated statement "Rather than give him credit for giving as good as he got in with two of the best three or four fighters of the last five years, many fans and pundits aggressively await a Taylor win that defines him."

but then you could say theres a kid who never fought anyone in the same league as wink or b-hop then stepped up and pushed them hard

he does deserve credit he aint ever ducked anyone and is a class act outside the ring

I could have and it's a good point, but also sort of superfluous...there are not very many guys who are in that league. Heading into his sixth year as a pro, I also don't want to act like Taylor is a novice.

That said, if Abraham beats Miranda, we've got one of the best middleweight fights between young guys at their peak in a LONG time.

i would prefer Ouma takes a warm-up fight at 160 then fights \Jermain

            i think Taylor-Ouma is a better fight than Abraham-Taylor

Fair enough; I think Abraham is a more proven force at 160 and with over Miranda becomes a very live choice. here's the contact for the networks:
CALL/WRITE AND LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD! In the end, fans still have some say over market control. If you care to see these fights, and you should, let HBO and Showtime know that. If you don’t want to type, feel free to cut and paste the text of this column and email HBO here or email Showtime here With all the griping done about bad fights on our TV screens, the least we can do is try. On the phone HBO is at 212-512-1000, Showtime 212-708-1600.

Taylor is well school good long laser jab physically big.

He has an arm lenght of 27' so imagine what his reach is going to be.

If Taylor fought Ouma Ouma could take away that advantge

Why would Taylor want to fight someone coming off a loss?
