yeh i couldnt see any reason why all britain wouldnt like him, apart from ppl who dont like mancs, but hes reppin the whole country at the end of the day
FFS, outside of boxing fans nobody knows Hatton. This is fact, there is a world outside of boxing.
This isn't Bruno or Eubank anymore, Cooper or Ali. But now that boxing is back on ITV, and with Amir Khan in place, I can see the popularity rising again..

so now your changing your opinion from outside of manchester to outside of boxing
Right, alot of threads seem to be made recently and there all dissin Ricky. Why? maybe because he isn't American? sure that may sound ****** but lets be honest here, if Ricky Hatton was American you guys would be hanging on his **** like a whore.
The majority of you guys would be all ravin on about how he's one of the best in the world. This may sound harsh but Americans(some) don't think that there is a world outside theirs and are quick to dismiss other countries fighters.
I know there was some debate about this a while back but i honestly feel this is the reason why there is alot of hatin for Hatton on boxingscene. Ricky Hatton beat the man, the champ, the legendary Kostya Tszyu at JR Welterweight and before that fight you guys were quick to dismiss Hatton winning. You was all convinced Tszyu had it in the bag and would show us all how overrated the Hitman is right? wrong..Ricky Hatton beat Kostya Tszyu for the IBF JR Welterweight title. No excuses, he beat him. He made Tszyu quit on his stool. And i don't wanna be hearing this **** about how Tszyu was old or whatever or how he had only fought so many rounds in the last couple of years it's all bull****. You wasn't saying that before the fight so don't start now. Hatton deserved the victory that night..his heart was set on winning and thats exactly what he did.
Then, after that fight he chooses to unify against Maussa and fight for another world title in which he wins.
THEN, after that he fights Collazo..he moves up a weight, fights a slick southpaw (Hatton has always struggled against southpaw's) for another world title, and wins yet again despite all this bickering and ****.
Give the guy a ****in break, its ridiculous..you guys call yourself boxing fans? you need to get your head out of your asses and see that the world doesn't just revolve around American boxers or whatever. Ricky Hatton is the man in this division. The man everyone wants to beat.
Once he beats Urango, hopefully a fight with Castillo or whatever will be made were he can finally prove himself and try to ' win over ' the American public. I just hope that when Hatton wins another super fight you'll eat humble pie and respect Ricky for what he has done in the boxing world and not try and make up more ****** excuses
rant over...
I don't think its personal against RH, whenever all the hype starts people always find ways to put those fighters down. I don't like the way he beat Zoo nor Collazo, I liked his old style better. Most people don't appreciate the clinching and rough tactics styles. Other than that, hey, a W is a W.
Manchester residents know Hatton, the rest of the country don't (outside of boxing fans).
I'm with Oasislad on this one, Hatton may not be known by every UK citizen but its the same in every country as boxing is hardly the most popularist sport but i'm sure if you asked some non boxing fans who Ricky Hatton is they would know,
And also, whats all this stuff bout him not been known outside of Manchester? absolutely ******ity, Ricky Hatton has fans in every UK city without fail..that you can be sure of
