He should fight Ken Shamrock in a standup boxing match only.
The Worlds most dangerous man vs The Baddest Man on the planet.

still if you had some experience of kicks and some experience of ground fighting wouldn't you take tyson to ground? tyson only knows how to punch, hard and fast!Originally posted by LHWchamp5There is no way tyson could face a top5 Hw.. I think somebody like hunt would be his best match-up. Hunt likes to strike, doesn't do much kicking and is never eager to go to the ground..
IMO this would be a great fight.Comment

Tyson would get his ass kicked in Pride, but if its boxing rules he'll KO anyone they put in front of him over there.Comment

this is the biggest misconception about boxers, that they can't fight in a streetfight...most boxers start out as streetfighters, including Tyson. Remember what happened when Tyson was on the ground against Lewis at the press conference, what did he do? He bit him
What did he do against Holyfield when he was getting headbutted over and over? He bit him
I trained in Martial Arts since I was 8 years old, and some of the best fighters by far were boxers. I always noticed that it was much easier to teach a great boxer how to fight as a MMA fighter than it was for a MMA fighter to be a boxer. Most boxers that have great power in there punches usually have great power in their legs as well...kicking is not that hard to learn, but what is hard to learn is to get your body and mind to develop superior reflexes, which most great boxers seem to have, especially since their reaction time is built up through trying to avoid punches, usually in combinations...kicks, in my experience, are slightly easier to see and block, though they hurt like hell when landed even if you block.
In Tyson's prime, how many boxers or MMA fighters that were heavyweights could move like him?
It is not that hard to learn how to fight on the ground either:
I only had a few years of Karate when I fought someone that had "ground" experience...my instincts, along with my adrenaline, kicked in and he stayed on the ground, while I got back up
I am not saying I could take on Gracie, not at all, but if somebody that was great in this field taught a 18 year old Tyson, I doubt he would have any trouble learning...kicks as well.
I am not sure anybody should compare a MMA punching ability with a top boxer's (power): if they had such ability they would be making a **** load of money in boxing instead of fighting in the MMA fights.
Of course all that said, it is better to have the ability to use all your body's weapons than limiting such attributes.
For Tyson, the guy is 40 years old and hasn't been in his prime since the "Rooney days"...haven't watched the announcement, but can't see him fightingLast edited by Abe Attell; 08-29-2006, 03:08 AM.Comment
