he could get a shot at Floyd now though. He dont need to beat castillo to get a shot. Im cool with him fighting Castillo, but it aint necessary to fight Floyd, but it is necessary for his legacy! -

Yes but like several people have said Hatton Mayweather isn't as marketable right now as it could and should be.Comment

The problem with that is he could stay at 147 and still have some nice big fights. I disagree with what your saying because if he fights Urango & Castillo then that would just be 2 fights at 140 that he wasted when he couldve been at 147 the whole time getting adjusted to the weight.Originally posted by kfootball15hes not STILL in china i dont think.
and how did they get the mugging story if they couldnt reach him in china? it was prolly done on the phone.
And i think Hatton is just nervous. he says he's only gonna fight for 2 or 3 more years. thats like only 6 more fights. He has to pick his choices right so that when he DOES fight mayweather, he has a better shot at winning.
im a big hatton fan, and his fight choice does seem to ligical to me. moving down to 140 for his old belt will raise awareness and importance for a castillo fight, which will then be MORE likely to happen. If he beats castillo then we can be certain he will get a shot at floyd. see what im saying?
but i understand why everyone is gettin pissed. he makes it seem like hes ducking and dodging all over the place. im pretty frustrated that he's takin on URANGO or URKAL. i dont wanna watch either...
You know very well that after those 2 fights he wont jump straight to 147 and fight a Mayweather who will have probally had a fight at 154 by then. He's going to say that he needs a tuneup or 2 at 147Comment

That's an interesting point. If here were to take those fights and then move up to 147 and take a few fights that would be very counter productive.
Regardless, the prospect of a Hatton Castillo fight a really exciting one because of the style match ups. I think there's enough interesting fights at 140 he could stay there a while. And if he and Floyd remain undefeated and on the pound for pound list, they can meet without Hatton taking fights at a new weight.
Title holders have jumped to face another title holder without a tune up inbetween.Comment

The whole point that all parties can now obviously see is that Hatton is the reason why this fight hasn't happend.
Cough 35yr old Tzu...Cough Cough 40yr old Vince Philips...A lot of guys at the end of their careers like Arturo Gatti and Demarcus Corley. Some of his opponents may have seen better days but they’re still good fighters. Margarito is at the top of his game and I’m not going to say he’s ducked him but that’s probably why the fight hasn’t taken place. He’s been very cleverly matched, but you can’t take anything away from his talent.
PBF has fought tougher competition coming up in weight, he fought Castillo in his first lightweight fight. He fought Demarcus Corley in his first fight at jrWW.Quote cupcrazy01
(3) Hatton makes a good point about Collazo as his first opponent at welter...a respected current title holder on five weeks' notice, whereas Floyd goes the Sharmba Mitchell route (Tszyu's leftovers, of course the same Tszyu whom Hatton made quit) for his 147 debut...
Dont think that Hatton actually thought he was getting a hard fight. Hatton thought he had a weak opponent who has no power and would'nt be able to hurt him. Look at Collazo's KO ratio and when was the last time Collazo KO'd someone? Collazo is a good C+/B figher who looked great against Hatton because Hatton doesn't fight that high a level of competition. What good fighter has Hatton beaten that isn't 35years old or older?
Now Hatton will most likely go down to the talent depleted jrWW division because he can't sit at the grown up table and needs to go back down to the kiddy table.Comment

With Castillo and Corrales moving up soon, I wouldn't call that a kiddy table. If he fights Urango it would be a joke, but I guess he wants that IBF belt back so the fight with Castillo would be a title fight, even though it already would be a Ring title fight.Originally posted by Left2bodyNow Hatton will most likely go down to the talent depleted jrWW division because he can't sit at the grown up table and needs to go back down to the kiddy table.
If Mayweather ever wants to be considered a legit 140-lb. champ, he'll have to come back the kiddy table too.
You do make good points about Mayweather's previous weight class jumps.Comment

Who is there at 140lbs, UrangoOriginally posted by cupcrazy01With Castillo and Corrales moving up soon, I wouldn't call that a kiddy table. Vivian Harris that got KO'd by Maussa? There is Castillo and thats it possibly Witter. There is no way you can sit there and argue that jrWW has a deeper talent pool than WW. So yeah it is the kiddy table.
Why does everyone assume that Corrales will soon move up? There are more potential big fights for him at 135lbs than there are at 140lbs. At 135lbs he has Casamayor, Freitas, Juan Diaz, Julio Diaz and there are a bunch of 130lbs that could possibly come up in a year or 2 while Corrales is fighting these guys.Comment
