Lewis-Mercer proved that Lewis could be salvaged.

Calzaghe-Eubank was as good a coming out party is it got for Calzaghe; esepcially after that bastard of a right hook put Eubank down int he opening seconds.

    Name them all people.

    Buster Douglas/Mikey Tyson.

After this I knew Buster was the real deal.

Also, Donald Hoskins vs. Toughman competitor. I didn't know if Hoskins was the real deal but he said he was so I agreed.

That just proved to me that Tyson was not immortal.

It was a left hook that put Eubank down(from southpaw stance),but yes the way he manhandled Chris was quite shocking because I thought Id never see anybody treat Chris like that. Eubank had always been so strong,so confident,so composed and had that sense of invincibility about him that it just didnt seem possible. The confidence factor for Calzaghe was impresive because he was not fazed whatsoever despite never having been on a stage like that before and there against the clown prince of big stages.

Pendleton fight personally convinced me Hatton was for real, you could see the suprise in Freddies eyes early on. I think he expected an easy fight,he even laughed at Hattons appearance beforehand, but I remember he got well and truly outboxed, outspeeded, outfought and was rolling around crying after the bodyshot finish.

What Pendleton was capable of at that point was very much up for question, though.

I think the Magee fight was a big turning point for Hatton. He survived a big scare in the opening round and thoroughly outworked a very crafty fighter and a southpaw that is a style taht always gave Hatton trouble.

I knew Jermain Taylor was the real deal when I saw him in the first fight with Hopkins. **** what people say about him not winning that fight, he showed alot of character and determination, which is what I look for in fighters. A fighter can have all the talent in the world, but if he doesn't have the mentality, he isn't worth my time.

I knew Manny Pacquiao was the real deal when he destroyed Marco Barrera. I always was a big Pacquiao fan, but wasn't sure that he could beat a guy like Barrera. He showed everyone the opposite when he went into a hostil anti Pacquiao crowd and kicked a legends ass. He showed alot of moves that I never saw from him and was just an all around fighter, something I didn't see in previous fights. And look, hes been here ever since.

You could tell Azumah Nelson was heading for a great future when he fought Salvador Sanchez in just his 13th fight or something. Just the mental strength and courage he exhibited was something to admire from such a young and inexperienced fighter. He is vastly underrated by history.

Pacquiao vs Morales II id lost faith in pacman when he seemed to
of dimmed since the beating he inflicted on H-O-F'er Barrera.
Made me think maybe he wasnt the real deal as far as being in
the elite group of fighters in the division.

Lewis proved that he could take shots. Yes, his career will always suffer because of the two KO losses to inferior fighters, but he took bombs from Mercer for ten rounds and stayed on his feet. Of course, his face told a different story. That was one of the last really great heavyweight fights and who knows whether it would have been different had it been a twelve rounder.

That was a crossroads fight for both guys and Lewis fought Mercer's type of fight and won the decision.
