Lewis had looked like he was aging in his last fight with Klitschko. His handspeed was not what it used to be, and he got tired easily. Now Lewis is over the age of forty, has not fought in years, and is probably walking around at about 275, a lot of which he would have to lose to fight Klitschko. Lewis would not look good in a comeback fight, and it would be ****** for him to try.

lewis knew a rematch would of been a disaster for him. vitaly took all his best shots and kept coming back for more and did anyone notice how discouraged lewis looked.

I thought that Lewis was desperately tired early on not knowing what the hell he had gotten into, but I think he was getting his second wind and was increasingly finding a way to get around those large arms of Klitschko, which really were his only defense. He would back off and flay his arms out to deflect Lewis' shots.

I was disappointed in Lewis' performance but he did the damage that needed to be done and you have to say that there have not been as many gruesome cuts as that in recent history.

no doubt that cut was horrible and i take nothing away from lewis he did what he had to do and even though he seemed to catch his second wind he hit vitali with everything he had (that would of koed most fighters especially that uppercut) and vitali took them extremely well.

we will never know exactly what would of happened if the cut never happened but vitali showed a heart of a champ and i think he hurt lewis more than lewis hurt him. i just wished rematch would of happened

I have to agree with you there, man. I went out of that fight satisfied that it was a legitimate win for Lewis, but I still think he should have given an immediate rematch before the end of 2003 before retiring in early 2004 as he eventually did.
