Comments Thread For: Stevenson: Valdez Put On A Masterclass Performance, Now It's Time To Deliver This Fight

LAS VEGAS Shakur Stevenson couldn't have been more pleased both with his view from ringside and the outcome in the junior lightweight title fight which had his undivided attention. The former featherweight titlist and now top-rated 130-pound contender watched with pride as

That's what i'm talking about! Forget the WBO fight, go straight to the Valdez fight! SALUTE to Valdez for his great performance! BIG UP to Shakur for seizing the opportunity! Brick City Stand Up!

Well there it is, Valdez wants the fight, Stevenson wants the fight, Arum says he wants to make the fight and will talk to both camps, sounds like we have a fight to be made for the summer or later this year. Good stuff. Shame they didn’t get to fight when last Shakur was #1 contender to Valdez at the previous weight, but better late than never.

So now Stevenson wants Valdez and not the winner of herring-frampton? Well, if it goes that way, I suppose winner of Valdez-stevenson can always unify.

I'm gonna guess he is tired of waiting around for Herring and Frampton to happen. If I were him I would fight Valdez and as you said winners unify. Sounds like a plan to me.

Shakur said, maybe next time. That's code for, it ain't happening. Shakur talked about going to the UK for Warrington, never happened. He talked about his gold medal, never happened. I have more faith in Santa, the Easter bunny, aliens, and big foot.

He absolutely wants this fight next. He was ringside for the primary purpose of scouting the fight and calling out the winner. The "maybe next time" part is the understanding that the sport's politics don't always work in your favor.

He is due to fight in May. He wants it to be Valdez.

I want him to prove it with a real test first. I want to see Stevenson vs Colbert!!! Valdez vs Santa Cruz!
