Great KO, wasn’t exactly the fight we were promised but it is the type of fight boxing needs, which is the best fighting the best. Cong**** to Valdez on a well earned victory, wonder what’s next for him?

Superb performance by Valdez. Brutal knockout. Glad Berchelt is OK -- I thought he was in serious trouble the way he was lying there.

Good post. I was really looking to this fight but it was not very competitive. Could have easily been stopped sooner. Berchelt was the champ but he had nothing left on his punches and he was taking a beating. Glad he is okay. Valdez looked great!

Berchelt's corner should have done him a favour and not let him come out for the 10th.

I saw some real echoes of the Warrington fight from last week. Both champs showed unbelievable toughness and courage to try and come back from rounds in which they were basically destroyed, but there comes a point where the corner has to look out for the fighter and cut their losses. Once Berchelt got knocked down a second time, there was no coming back and they were then just sending him out to get hurt. You have to wonder what kind of long-term effect that kind of knockout will have on him.

I was thinking the same thing. Berchelt could have been spared a brutal knockout loss. He will need to recover mentally as well as physically. I wish him well!

I totally agree. As much as I'd like the fight to continue after the first KD (as it happened) the fight should be stop because I failed the referee instruction to move forward but he was given a break.

For me it was a matter of time that he was going to be stopped as he moved in front of Valdez without throwing punches over and over again and didn't see to be all right all night long after the that first KD.

                      Peace!

Much like Warrington last week, Berchelt was concussed after that shot and the fight should have been stopped sooner. That kind of beating is what makes boxing a deadly affair.
