It’s sink or swim, no point doing a 30-0 with bums on his resume. Losing is part of sports, am glad they put him in with Ava because the hype surrounding him at one time was ridiculous. Now he took his loss, hopefully he goes back to the drawing board and doesn’t cry and make excuses about he was sabotaged, man up not cry and beetch around like some softy. As Loma and Rigo has proven its not the number of fights but the quality.
Josh Kelly only had 11 fights?

Some guy made me laugh last night, he said Kelly has a reaction based style without the reactions.I’d imagine Kelly is the kind of fighter that could look spectacular in the gym against anyone in sparring.
But even hard sparring is still sparring, it’s unlikely you’re going to get 100% intense pressure coming at you like he got tonight.
I wonder how much hard sparring they do to deal with this type of thing. Because if they doing more light sparring, then he probably looks unbelievable in that situationComment

That’s the thing that I saw in the Ray fight. When the going got tough he didn’t do what I thought someone with that hype would do. He kinda folded, didn’t get his second wind, dig deep. This was on the wall. We saw this against Ray Robinson (fair draw) when once Robinson (a non puncher, really) got on top, Kelly couldn't turn the tide back in his favour. Clearly skilled, and fast, but he can't take a shot and has no instincts to get himself out of trouble.
He'll always come short anywhere near world level imo. I'd like to see him fight Marku. I'd tip Marku to win, but a good fight.
Yesterday he fought like the fight was a 4 rounder, showboating like he was having his way easy. But you could see he was succumbing to Ava, trying to potshot, shoulder roll, but expanding great energy in the process.
I think he would have quit if the towel wasn’t thrown in, his corner saved him in that respect.Comment
